Spring Practice Update

Thank you to everyone for the great efforts and attendance at Spring practices over the last 2 weeks!   We are very excited with the dedication of the players that we have seen and appreciate all of the parents’ efforts to get the players there during a very busy spring season.  
 
If Spring is any indication of what is to come—we are in for a very successful Fall season!! 
 
Based on the anticipated attendance levels for this weekend, we have decided to cancel the scrimmages originally planned for this Saturday.  Across the age groups, we have many overlapping scheduling conflicts and we wanted to be respectful of everyone’s time and efforts.
 
Remaining practices for Spring are:
 
6th Grade—Final practice–Thursday 5/10 from 6:30–8p.m.
 
7th Grade–Final practice–  Thursday  5/10 from 6:30-8p.m.
 
8th Grade–  No practice on Thursday.  Final practice on Friday 5/11 from 6p.m.-7p.m.
 
 
If your player has been issued a WHITE helmet for spring practice—please turn these in to your coach on your last practice day.  We will be re-issuing you a Milton helmet in the fall.

Spring Practice Starts Monday, April 30th

It’s almost time for Spring Practices to begin!!  We are excited to see the boys out there, so please make every effort to attend practices if at all possible.  Over the course of the next 2 weeks, players will be get to know their coaches, do conditioning workouts, and run through a series of drills—all culminating in a Red/White scrimmage at the end of the 2 weeks.  

Schedules are as follows, but please always touch base with your coach for the particulars for your age group.

Spring Practice

  • Monday, April 30th—Sat May 12th at Milton HS Practice Field
  • Practices are 6:30-8p.m.  Monday, Tues, Wed, Thurs and Sat. afternoon (check with individual coaches)
  • Please check in on Monday April 30th at 6p.m. and bring any outstanding waivers, physicals, payments, etc.

What to Wear?

On Monday, April 30th, please have your player wear t-shirt, shorts, and cleats.  Each individual coach will instruct his team on what to wear for the remaining practices. 

If your player was unable to attend the Equipment fitting, we will be available this Sunday, April 29th from 4:30p.m.-6:30p.m. at NorthPark Field 1 for equipment distribution.  Since we do not store our equipment at the High School, it is important that you try to make this time, as we will not have it on site at Spring practice.

Final Equipment Pickup 4/29, Registration deadline extended to 4/30

For those of you who weren’t able to make it to the equipment pickup on the 14th, we will be having another session on Sunday, April 29th from 4:30-6:00 at North Park (NOT Milton HS). Please meet at the equipment shed to the right of the home stands at Football Field #1. This will be your last chance to pick up equipment prior to the start of spring practice on April 30th, so please make every effort to be there so we can make the most of our practice time. You will need to bring a deposit check for $200, which will be held and returned at the end of the season when the equipment is turned in.

Also, we have extended the registration deadline to Monday, April 30th. Please see the Registration page on the website and follow the instructions to complete your online registration so that we can have an accurate headcount going into spring practice.

Registration Deadline and Equipment Pickup – Saturday, April 14

  • Registration is currently open on our website and will remain open until April 14th.   Online registration is required so that we can establish a consistent vehicle for league and team communication.  Payment is accepted online or by mailing in a check (preferred). Registrations after April 14th will incur a $50.00 late fee and will be limited to space availability. See Registration section on the website for more details.
  • Equipment Distribution and Uniform Fitting—April 14th at NorthPark Field 1 (the main field that AYFA uses).  Please bring a deposit check for $200. This check will be held and returned at the end of the seaon when the equipment is returned. The equipment shed is located to the right of the home stands. Times are by Grade as follows (if you can’t make it during your grade’s time, you can come during one of the other timeslots):
    • 8th Grade: 1pm – 2pm
    • 7th Grade: 2pm – 3pm
    • 6th Grade: 3pm – 4pm
  • Unfortunately, physicals will NOT be conducted on April 14th as previously planned because Doctor’s Express has recently gone out of business. Physicals are required to participate in Milton Jr. Eagles Football and for spring practices. North Fulton Hospital will be offering free sports physicals on Saturday, April 21st from 8:00am to 12:30pm on a first come, first served basis. This is being offered to all area high schools, so expect large crowds. The physical form is available on the Forms section of the website and can also be completed by your personal physician. Returning players can use the physical form on file from last season for spring practice, but a new physical will be required prior to the start of the season (dated April 1st or later).
